The Victorian Seniors Festival is a state-wide festival celebrating the contributions of seniors in our community for the month of October.

As part of the festival the Friends of Emerald Lake Park will be running two events.

A guided stroll around the lakes in Emerald Lake Park and to Wright Road and back along the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail on Thursday 19 October from 9.30am-11am, meeting in the Lakeside Carpark. Free morning tea is provided.

On the 25 October from 10am-12noon enjoy a leisurely stroll, walk & talk from the Lakeside Carpark to the Emerald Museum. This walk is suitable for able walkers. For those wishing to take part but unable to walk can meet at the Museum, 5 Crichton Rd, Emerald.

Become a Weedbuster

September is weedbusting time and Friends of Emerald Lake Park are holding a range of activities to tackle weeds at home and in the community.

Following on from the Trees for Weeds swap on the 2nd September, Friends of Emerald Lake Park will also be working with Emerald Primary School students on their 15th annual Weedbuster Day, removing weeds from the bush and enjoying a morning tea afterwards.

Thursday 21 September is Weedbuster Community Day from 9am-11am. Meet in the Lakeside Carpark.

March Sycamore Blitz

Sycamore Blitz held in March was very successful in removing seedlings and juveniles. Over fifty hours of work.

Re-vegetation works undertaken in 2022 with students and the community, see the plants now reaching the top of the tree guards. Looks fantastic.

The community working bee resulted in hundreds of seedlings being removed. Thank you to everyone who helped. The seedlings were all bagged up and collected by Cardinia Shire Park Services.

Sycamore Maple Blitz

Join Friends of Emerald Lake Park on October 1st, 9th & 20th from 9am - 11am to help remove invasive Sycamore Maple seedlings from the bush at Emerald Lake Park. Meet at Lakeside Carpark and follow the signs. BYO Gloves.

3/9/22 Weedbuster Week

Emerald PS Grade Four students participated in a Weedbuster Week activity with Friends of Emerald Lake Park weeding and planting 150 plants. The Western Forest was a hive of activity as the students diligently worked. A morning tea was enjoyed by all.
